Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced for the Game Boy Advance developed and published by Konami.Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced is a collection of six classic Konami arcade games. The collection includes Frogger, Rush'n Attack, Gyruss, Time Pilot, Scramble and Yie Ar Kung-Fu. The games are faithful recreations of the arcade originals, and they also include special multiplayer modes. Use of the legendary Konami Code also enhances the games' graphics. Unfortunately, the game doesn't feature battery saves for high scores, but Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced is still a fun collection of arcade classics. This video review features video gameplay footage of Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced for the Game Boy Advance and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Konami Collector s Series Arcade Advanced Game Sample GBA

There have been many video game compilations made over the years. Some had a few titles, some had many titles, some were just straight ports of games, some were more than just straight ports, some had extra miscellaneous content, and others just contained the bare essentials. In the world of (legitimate) video game compilations and collector series, Konami's GBA "Arcade Advanced" title ranks quite high, but what is it that makes it so great? Is it the games? Well, yes, sort of. While there's no denying that the six games presented in this title (Frogger, Scramble, Time Pilot, Gyruss, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, and Rush'n Attack) are classics in one form or another, this title wouldn't differ from so many others if they were just straight ports (and good ports they are indeed). If that's the case, what else could there be to this game? Well, some games have new multiplayer features, others have new levels added to them, and then others even have "Enhanced" modes with all-new graphics and sounds! They can all be accessed using the famous "Konami Code". Good ports, new multiplayer features, new levels, enhanced graphics and sound in some games, and other miscellaneous game-specific cheats combined with six games that are good on-the-go titles, and it starts making more sense why this game is so cool. This video shows snippets of many of the things featured in this game. Frogger: Ah, good old Frogger. Your objective is simple: Get from one end of the screen to the next without being killed and enter one of five homes. Features an enhanced mode. Scramble: An old shooter where you have to get as far as you can with a depleting fuel gauge and lots of enemies to shoot down. You can drop bombs and shoot fuel containers to refill your fuel. Features an enhanced mode. Time Pilot: A cool game where you fly 360 degrees while trying to shoot down various different attack planes. After defeating the grunts, a boss plane appears. Defeat the boss to win the level and jump to a different period in history. Has a code to implement auto-fire. Gyruss: A classic Konami shooter where you circle around enemies as though you're inside a tube; there are different layers to the tube and enemies show-up or materialize in an attempt to defeat you. They can shoot, but there are also various obstacles too. This game has an enhanced extra stage comprised of three sub-levels (Stage X, Y, and Z) and they are the hardest levels in Gyruss. Completing them takes you back to Stage 1. Yie Ar Kung Fu: A basic, old, compotent fighting game viewed as the basis for future fighting games by some Japanese players. Playing as Oolong, you must use your fancy array of punches and kicks to exploit enemy weaknesses. Oolong can do different moves based on button and direction. The Konami code unveals two secret characters. Rush'n Attack: A cool, old-school action game where you stab and shoot enemies while trying to save prisoners of war. Extras for the game include two new levels. Enjoy.

GBA Konami Arcade Advanced review

Hi, this is an Armchair Arcade videogame review, this time by Mark V , featuring Konami's Arcade Advanced for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance (GBA), yet another attempt by the industry to breathe new life into some old games. It features no more than six original arcade games, and this time Konami tried their best to create almost arcade perfect conversions of the old games, and I must say I like the result. It's nothing more than that though, no fancy graphics, no enhanced graphics, just something that looks very close to the original sprites and sounds very much like the original arcade. Not only the looks and sounds are similar, but also the gameplay itself actually feels like the arcade originals. It's much unlike other classic rehashes I've played where the games might look and sound similar but the gameplay doesn't really feel the same.So what games are we talking about?- Frogger - Gyruss - Time Pilot - Scramble - Yie Ar Kung-Fu - Rush'n AttackYou select the games from a fancy game selection screen...Frogger As you can see the sounds and even the weird color scheme of the original arcade is preserved. The graphics are almost full size and the screen has to scroll vertically to be able to accommodate the entire playing field on the tiny GameBoy Advance screen. All-in-all a very fine Frogger conversion...Scramble The first time I played this game was on the GCE Vectrex game system, then I was exposed to it in the arcades. I must say I prefer the Vectrex version over the arcade. But here you again have a perfectly playable conversion of the arcade original. It plays exactly the same, but to me does feel a lot faster than the original arcade. A game that has multiple levels featuring the same high standards that we saw in the Frogger game...Time Pilot I bought this game for my C-64 (Commodore 64) and it was virtually identical to the arcade. I have played this game a lot and I was amazed to see how good the conversion to the GameBoy Advance has succeeded. Everything is there from the parallax scrolling clouds in the sky to the various fighter planes of the different eras that you need to shoot and the parachutists that you can save. Despite the tiny controls of the GameBoy Advance, a very playable experience...Gyruss Now there is a game that I truly have played a lot. I bought this for my C-64 when it came out and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could play the arcade machine quite well with the skills that I learned on the C-64 version. This is my favourite game on this cartridge and it features all the goodies found in the arcade. Gameplay truly feels identical to the arcade game!Yie Ar Kung-Fu One of the first fighter games out there. Not one of my favourites, but this title also features graphics and gameplay that feel the same as the arcade. A very good conversion.Rush'n Attack Rush'n Attack is also known as Green Beret and is another fun game that was released on this. I have played this game at the video arcade, the C-64 and on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). The C-64 version is a tough game and so is this arcade conversion. All games feature a multiplayer-mode where it is possible to link up two GameBoy Advance systems and play together. I wasn't able to test out this feature, but I also believe it is possible to connect to systems when only one person uses the cartridge.I was pleasantly surprised by this arcade collection, perhaps because the games are kept so very close to their original versions.Graphics 810 Sound 810 Gameplay 910

As the title suggests I'm taking a look at Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits. I picked this one for $3 at a gamestop, less than a dollar a game. In the game you get to pick from four classic Arcade games. The games are DEFENDER, JOUST, ROBOTRON 2084 and SINISTAR. Quite an amazing collection and it sound and looks great.
