Sega also hoped to see the 32x increase the longevity of the aging Genesis (Mega Drive outside of North America). Today, the system is merely a curiosity and an obscure piece of gaming history. With a small library consisting of graphically improved versions of Genesis games and arcade ports along with the imminent arrival of the Sega Saturn, the 32x flopped and was discontinued roughly only two years after its launch. Though the graphics of some games were decent for the time, some games like Doom were missing content like different levels and had poor sound quality since it used the Genesis' sound chip. Many people see the 32x as the beginning of Sega's eventual downfall in the console market as third parties began to lose faith in Sega. In this Episode, the nerd picks up from where he left off with the Sega CD to look into this worthless parasite of the Sega Genesis. Just how bad is the 32x? While initially partnering with Sony, they later tried it out with Philips. Even after both deals went south for Nintendo, Sega decided to try out the same kind of peripheral for their own system, the Sega Genesis (also known as the Sega Mega Drive). The first few years of the Sega CD seemed hopeful, with games that featured famous film actors and full-motion video. Initially, some people saw it as an evolution for video games, due to the games' advanced graphics and high production values. It wasn't long after the Sega CD was released, however, that people started realizing how unnecessary the add-on really was. Because the device was so unusual, it was hard to develop more "natural" video games, which is resulted in a slew of games known as "interactive movies." In this episode, the Nerd will delve into the library of the Sega CD and see why it was such a commercial failure. He'll cover many titles, some of which are classic genres you'd expect on the Genesis, while others are failed experiments at making a movie out of a video game. Even after all of financial trouble Sega suffered, they had no intentions to kill off the Genesis so quickly. The Jaguar. In part 1 of this review The Nerd gives some Atari History as well as a sneak peak of some of the system's small and crappy library. Watch The Nerd tell us about all of The Jaguar's failed and annoying attempts at system hardware innovation. The Nerd will show you just how convenient the lack of a spine label is, He will show you how the added handle to the game carts makes life a little easier as well as many more additions to the hardware make his colon quake. Expletives fly and emotions run high in this first part review of the Atari Jaguar. In the Golden Age of video games, Atari was on top. The games may not seem like much compared to today, but for the time, these simple games were revolutionary. Atari dominated arcades, and home consoles with the Atari 2600. Then competition came along, and the market became consumed with video games. Then after 1983 after the infamous Video Game Crash, Nintendo and Sega rose up, and video games were revolutionized again. So Atari had a rough time keeping up, especially with the comparison in graphics and gameplay. With Nintendo and Sega in heated competition, Sega made the argument that the 16-bit Genesis was superior to the 8-bit NES; starting a "Bit War". Atari saw this as the perfect time to capitalize with one console, but it only reminded us that graphics don't mean everything. This is, the Atari Jaguar, which was announced to be the very first; 64 Bit System! But in the end, it's anticipated arrival on the feeding ground wasn't as fearful as it build up. Here, we'll briefly touch upon the rise and fall of Atari, and why the Jaguar failed to live up to what it could've been before the Nerd talks about the games themselves.Visit our website! http:cinemassacre.com James Twitter! https:twitter.comcinemassacre Mike's Twitter! https:twitter.comMike_Matei Our Google+ https:plus.google.com+JamesNintendoNerd Our Tumblr! http:cinemassacreproductions.tumblr.com Our Facebook Fanpage! https:www.facebook.comCinemassacre Our Instagram! http:instagram.comcinemassacre Our Reddit! http:www.reddit.comrTheCinemassacre Our Flattr! https:flattr.comprofilecinemassacreCheck out these other classic AVGN episodes!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN: NES Accessories https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=9kBMscW_dVgAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU

It was developed by Software Creations and released by Arcadia Systems. The game is based-off the Marvel Comics superhero created by Jack Kirby. Aside from starring in comics, prior to 1990, the Surfer had appeared as an animated character in Hanna-Barbera's Fantastic Four series. However, it wasn't until 2007 that we would see him on the big screen in theatres, starring in 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'. In the comics, the Silver Surfer has a variety of powers and abilities including endurance, superhuman strength and the ability to manipulate the universe's ambient energy. Does any of this actually appear in the game itself? Well if you want the short answer: No. But he can fly and shoot stuff. Episode Notes by Mike Matei: - There is another version of this video floating around where James appears yellowish on screen. That version was never supposed to be released because it had yet to be color corrected. This video is the corrected version! - In an out-of-character video, James listed the game at #3 on his list of the top 10 hardest NES games.Watch all Angry Video Game Nerd episodes https:www.youtube.complaylist?list=PL2B009153AC977F90Visit our website! http:cinemassacre.com James Twitter! https:twitter.comcinemassacre Mike's Twitter! https:twitter.comMike_Matei Our Google+ https:plus.google.com+JamesNintendoNerd Our Tumblr! http:cinemassacreproductions.tumblr.com Our Facebook Fanpage! https:www.facebook.comCinemassacre Our Instagram! http:instagram.comcinemassacre Support us on Patreon http:www.patreon.comCinemassacreCheck out these other Angry Video Game Nerd classics!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Ghostbusters https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=TLVGmvmNitgAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN: NES Accessories https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=9kBMscW_dVgAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU

Plagued with both the dawn of the video game crash of 1983 and lackluster quality hardware, the 5200 was quickly discontinued by 1984 and drifted off into obscurity behind the ever popular 2600.Originally launched in late 1982, the 5200 was the first console to feature the likes of a pause button, yes that's right! What we take for granted today was a real big thing back then. Not to mention full analogue controls, which for these types of games were perhaps a bit too excessive for the time.In this episode the nerd gives his verdict as to why the 5200 failed. Shows off the all so intuitive controller and tries out the ginormous track ball accessory. He also gives his views on the confusing cartridge and power cable design. Now what's the main thing about playing a video game? Well being able to actually play it! With the introduction of the Atari 2600 in 1977 and its success, other companies decided to throw down with Atari and try to capitalize on this new market. This first of these efforts was the Intellvison by Mattel Electronics. The Intellivision was test marketed in 1979 and officially released in the US in 1980. The system sold over 3 million units and had a library of over 125 games. In 1982, there was even the Intellivoice adapter that put speech in the game (B-17 BOOOOOOMBER) and also the introduction of the Intellivison II which had detachable controllors and a more sleek design and even the ability to play Atari games with the Intellivision console (WHAT?). Unfortunately, with the video game crash of 1983 and a saturated market of competition Mattel Electronics closed its doors for good, taking substantial financial loss. In 2009 the Intellivision was named the 14th greatest video game console by IGN.com. Released in July of 1995 by Nintendo, this "portable" console was touted as being able to display "true 3D graphics" and deliver a truly unique gaming experience. Indeed, the experience was unique, but primarily because the games were projected in bright red directly into gamers' retinas. Did I mention that a side-effect of the Virtual Boy was potential eye-bleeding? The sheer weight of the device and lack of any sort of head-strap also prevented it from being remotely portable. Truly a shame, given how fashionable this massive red pair of binoculars on a tripod is. So what kind of gaming catalog can be expected of such a "unique" contraption? You'll be hard-pressed to tell all 12 of them apart, because no matter which game you choose, all you'll be seeing is red. Good thing the Nerd's got glasses, or else he'd really be screwed! One of the main facets of the market economy is that just about anybody can have anything they want as long as they're willing and able to pay the price. But the key words there are "willing and able", so even though we have the right to buy whatever we want, a good chunk of us might not have the ability, mostly for monetary reasons. Take for example video games; video games themselves and the consoles to play them on are, more often than not, beyond expensive, but most kids really enjoy the thought of being able to explore virtual worlds and blow the heads off of anything that tries to kill you and most have a burning desire to be a part of this new craze themselves. That's where Tiger Electronics comes in. A subsidiary of the toy mongrel Hasbro, Tiger Electronics, for many years, managed to satisfy the rapidly expanding video game demands by producing and releasing a whole infestation of very low-quality handheld LCD "games" that somehow gave off the impression that you were holding an actual NES right in the palm of your hands. But the truth is, IT WORKED! Since another main facet to market economy is that the products that people buy the most are the ones that get produced the most, Tiger proceeded to milk their new money grab for all that it was worth, and even tried their hand at releasing whole video game consoles for the sake of it.But there were some who resisted. Despite naming the "Simon's Quest" Tiger adaptation as one of the reasons why Nintendo was superior to Sega (go to Youtube and search "avgn snes vs genesis") when he was just a lad, everyone's favorite angriest, most pissed-off gaming nerd has since recognized the Tiger games for the shallow cash-in attempts that they were and has dedicated a whole episode of his show to tearing them a brand new asshole. So join the Angry Video Game Nerd as he takes a look at what could possibly be considered the worst video games he has ever had the honor of playing, if you could even count them as video games (and for the record Nerd, yes video games are art, go to Youtube and search "nostalgia critic are video games art"). So get ready to have an insignificantly small part of your childhood be given a dose of reality, this is Angry Video Game Nerd Episode 113-Tiger Electronic Games. Also, Sega ended up having much more Tiger games than Nintendo Nerd, just to let you know. Konami witnessed the success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and created a franchise to mirror. The Battletoads franchise also sported action figures and an animated series, which never lived up to the hype of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The NES game debuted in 1991 and its' notoriety stemmed from it's obvious similarity to the Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles and its' incredibly difficult gameplay. The game is also playable on the Sega Genesis and had a sequelcrossover game with Double Dragon. The game possesses extremely fluid gameplay and original music and sound effects that perfectly suit its' "beat em up style." The game included a variety level designs that go back and forth between beat em up, platform, and racing. All of which (beyond the second level) are infamously difficult. The Nerd reviews this game and demonstrates it's impeccably cooperative two-player mode with his very recognizable theme song artist. The pair show us how a two-player beat em up game should be programmed as they pay homage to one of the most underrated classics from the NES library.Check out these other classic AVGN episodes!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN: NES Accessories https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=9kBMscW_dVgAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU

Action 52 was a compilation of games mostly filler and many with similar objectives. Plenty of duplicate titles with very minor differences, the game itself was incredibly broken with many glitches leaving quite a few of the titles unplayable. The main title of the cart being Cheetah men which was intended to feature a possible fresh franchise series that never ended up taking off despite some merchandise and comic books being made. Cheetah men itself was very poorly constructed and contained numerous glitch's such as getting stuck in mid jump on top of poor level design. Plenty of the games on the cart were space shooter's and some games had other issues such as never ending, not being able to win, game freezes, misleading game titles, and numerous other issues which resulted in it's poor reviews.Visit our website! http:cinemassacre.com James Twitter! https:twitter.comcinemassacre Mike's Twitter! https:twitter.comMike_Matei Our Google+ https:plus.google.com+JamesNintendoNerd Our Tumblr! http:cinemassacreproductions.tumblr.com Our Facebook Fanpage! https:www.facebook.comCinemassacre Our Instagram! http:instagram.comcinemassacre Our Reddit! http:www.reddit.comrTheCinemassacre Our Flattr! https:flattr.comprofilecinemassacreCheck out these other classic AVGN episodes!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN: NES Accessories https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=9kBMscW_dVgAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU

It starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis Ernie Hudson and Rick Moranis. The movie was a leap ahead in special effects in its day, and a legitimate phenomenon. It was only a natural evolution that this franchise would translate to other mediums and with the video game boom of the eighties of course there had to be games made. What a great idea, we thought. The game was published by Activision and released in 1986, a full 2 years after the movie. A game that had plenty of time to learn from the mistakes of the previous versions on Atari and Commodore 64, but instead chose to just port the same horrible game. What's scarerier than ghosts, ghouls and dodging drunk drivers? Stairs In this part one of a three part series, the Nerd reviews the 8-bit incarnation on Nintendo of the original Ghostbusters. We learn how NOT to make a movie adaptation and the heartbreak and anger from childhood that still resides in the Nerds heart. Also ghost vacuums.Episode notes by Mike Matei: - James and I talked about this game for hours and hours on end. In particular, the speaking part on the title screen that says "GHOSTBUSTERS!" in a muffled voice. We sat around mocking that voice for hours. Funny stuff. - I did the drawing of the kids rocketing through the roof at James request.Visit our website! http:cinemassacre.com James Twitter! https:twitter.comcinemassacre Mike's Twitter! https:twitter.comMike_Matei Our Google+ https:plus.google.com+JamesNintendoNerd Our Tumblr! http:cinemassacreproductions.tumblr.com Our Facebook Fanpage! https:www.facebook.comCinemassacre Our Instagram! http:instagram.comcinemassacre Our Reddit! http:www.reddit.comrTheCinemassacre Support us on Patreon http:www.patreon.comCinemassacreCheck out these other awesome AVGN episodes!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN: NES Accessories https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=9kBMscW_dVgAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU

Nintendo set the standard when it came to video game consoles with this 8-bit home entertainment console and was the first to endorse third-party development. This, of course, led to many games -- and, the subject of this video, accessories designed to enhance the player's experience with their games. Some were good -- such as the NES Max or the Zapper, though a lot more were terrible. Today, The Nerd looks at some of the worst, or lesser-known, and determines whether or not they perform as expected -- such as the Konami Laser Scope and the LJN Roll 'n' Rocker, and of course, hilarity ensues.Visit our website! http:cinemassacre.com James Twitter! https:twitter.comcinemassacre Mike's Twitter! https:twitter.comMike_Matei Our Google+ https:plus.google.com+JamesNintendoNerd Our Tumblr! http:cinemassacreproductions.tumblr.com Our Facebook Fanpage! https:www.facebook.comCinemassacre Our Instagram! http:instagram.comcinemassacre Our Reddit! http:www.reddit.comrTheCinemassacre Our Flattr! https:flattr.comprofilecinemassacreCheck out these other classic AVGN episodes!AVGN: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=XjUz8IT0CYgAVGN: Top Gun https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=ofM11nPzFo0AVGN: Friday the 13th https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=1raUvGNbZFgAVGN: The Power Glove https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=MYDuy7wM8GkAVGN: Bible Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=LkNvQYiM6bwAVGN: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=M1tU61Nyv1wAVGN Batman https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=JFvtk5toGJgAVGN: Ghosts N' Goblins https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=94Y6y1MOoEoAVGN Tiger Electronic Games https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=_u5dtBtG9yU
